BLOGGING TASK

I am deeply desperately and intolerably in need of a new perspective,
I fear i am repeating rather than furthering in terms of development,,
it is true that the subject matter i am looking at is similar to that
of what i have looked at in previous projects,,,
BUT that cannot be helped[[or rather should not could not would not]] be helped.
The problem lies in provoking and reaching.

Initially,, To Begin,
,,this project I started by looking at lace structures in particular antique laces
(I have quite a nice collection that I have accumulated over the years)
using the transparent and the opaque as my ordered opposites

but as I begin to draw from these I feel like I am getting nothing out of it,
I need more imagery,
I am struggling to find enough interest purely drawing from other peoples designs, I need something fresher, a rawer subject matter, allowing me more scope to play.

Hence my subconscious decision to turn back to the apple in the laces eye,
to turn back to the topic of desire, the starting point for many lace designs,
back to this unfluctuating craving for botany.
I have began to seek out flowers to curve my own ideas for lace design, drawing from flower flesh.

But I have been finding it difficult to grasp this idea of drawing up lace designs, so from looking at different laces and seeing the patterns you can create with thread I have tried to incorporate this into the sections of my drawings, [see above]
^^^^^^^^^^^^
I think the idea of this is working well but then I get a little stuck considering what should go beyond the initial shape, it is all a bit fiddly and linear.

In terms of colour everything so far has been basic sketches, colour needs to be introduced!!
Therefore I decided to embark on a colour palette, vaguely inspired by
John Singer Sargents,
Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose

I think the dark muted tones combined with the burning glow of the oranges and the quieter beauty of the dusky pinks looks quite whimsical, something I want to play with.

Using this colour palette I have started to manipulate the image of the flower, trying to get away from such an obvious image, experimenting with heavier and weaker colour application, trying to get a sense of the opaque and transparent.

In conclusion, I am happy with my direction, but think I need to push myself a lot more, to find some more interest, experimenting more with materials and different senses of colour application.
Also, another point of notice::
I must move out of the sketchbook, varying sizes, working on bigger and different types of materials to see what I can achieve, perhaps using cut outs and layers to investigate further into the transparent and the opaque.
As for my subject matter, I need to get to the core looking at the strive of its growth, that push towards the sun.

There is a certain degree of similarity here, be it the colour application or the approach.
It is a subconscious decision, a turn towards the sun, things must reach upward, stretching, striving for the light, building, (i like buildings too)(buildings in the sky)(castles in the trees)

or a castle in the sky? [Laputa offcourse]

Look upwards and spin around once.

As for a conclusive answer, there is no cure.
It is something i must pursue, until i too bloom?
